Study
Immediate creation of a BLUE RIBBON COMMISSION to study all aspects of Florida's Death Penalty laws, determine the actual costs, and recommend the specific reforms first requested by the Florida Supreme Court in 2005. It is inconceivable that we do not know the cost of the death penalty. It is irrational that we have not implemented reforms called for by our highest court.
But We Can't Wait
How many children must attend under-funded schools so that we can afford to excute 2.6 people a year?
How many under-paid teachers must Florida lose so that we can afford to execute 2.6 people a year?
How many elderly citizens must suffer without adequate health care so that we can afford to execute 2.6 people a year?
How many other government programs must be cut so that we can afford to execute 2.6 people a year?
STOP THE WASTE
SUSPEND
There must be a TEMPORARY SUSPENSION on imposition of the death penalty and a moratorium on executions. Only then will the promise of our leaders to "provide essential services in a fiscally prudent way" be met.
